Corporate governance has garnered much attention over the past decade and has resulted in much more accountability of board members and an increased focus on risk management. Boards must comply, and an effective way of implementing governance is by enculturating it in the processes, networks, and culture of the organization.
Ms. Ward recognizes that to embed governance in the organization, it must be diffused through people and processes. Governance should be viewed ethnographically from the perspective of the shareholder, the directors, the executives, and the employees. In order to change the cultural approach to governance, Ms. Ward works with the business to accomplish the following:

- The development of an inclusive and cohesive governance framework with systems and processes specific to the industry.
- An operating model based on communication and transparency.
- Improved processes and information sharing to expedite decision-making and risk management.
- New messages that shift the governance focus to benefits and shareholder value
- Measurements, responsibilities and accountabilities
